“Do you want fries with that?” Hugh asked through the drive-thru loudspeaker.
He had taken a summer job before his plans to head off to an elite college in the fall. He didn’t need the money; his family was loaded. His dad just forced him to do it in order to “build character.” The wealthy Hugh struggled at the fast food joint, regularly screwing up orders and goofing around on the job. His co-worker, Destiny, was often furious with him. Unlike Hugh, her family was poor and she needed the money from this job. There was no fancy college waiting for her in the fall, just more hours stuck in this dead end job.
They were both assigned to close on stormy night when they got into a big argument. Just as they were shouting, the lightning struck the building, and Destiny and Hugh ended up swapping bodies.
Adjusting to Hugh’s life was pretty easy for Destiny. She was able to take the job seriously for the next month and half until she went off the fancy college in Hugh’s place.
Meanwhile, Hugh was having a tough time in Destiny’s body. He was miserable living in a small apartment with Destiny’s mom and having to come to work at this fast food joint every day. Worse still was that there was no escape in sight. Having grown up rich, he had never truly appreciated his advantages; he never studied hard to applied himself. Without his families money supporting him, he’d amount to nothing.
