Matthew and Abigail had gone for a walk in the forest, ventured off the nature trail, and had gotten quite lost. As the couple argued and yelled about who was responsible, Abigail noticed a rustling amongst the trees. Matthew could barely make out a figure that seemed to be hiding, but they blended into the background of the forest all too well.
“Please,” Matthew begged of the unseen person, “We’re lost. We could really use your help.”
Neither Matthew or Abigail could’ve predicted what happened next. A woman with pointed ears emerged from behind a tree holding a mace; the reason she blended so well was because her skin was green!
“You need to leave,” The woman warned, “I was LARPing --”
“What the heck is LARPing?” Abagail interrupted.
“Live Action Role Playing. I was pretending to be a fighter that was half-elf and half-orc. I stumbled onto the witch’s cottage -- an actual real life witch! -- and she transformed me into my character. My skin’s not supposed to be green; I shouldn’t have pointy ears; I’m not even really a woman! I susvive by hunting and eating small creatures in the forest. My orc blood likes them raw. It’s so gross, but...Look, you just need to leave.”
“Maybe that witch in the cottage can help us!” Abagail beamed.
“It’s worth a shot,” Matthew added.
The green-skinned woman seemed stunning, “Did you not listen to a word I just said? She’s magic, like REAL magic. I have no idea what she’ll do to you, but I literally just told you what she did to me.”
people nowadays only listen to what they want to hear by not really listening what is actually said.
