It was a few weeks later, and both Stanley and his wife had adapted well enough the the Great Shift. They had both changed genders as a result of the Shift, which was a challenge but not an insurmountable one. Stanley felt weird wearing the clothes of his former body, and it felt even stranger when it came time to use her tampons. When they ran out, he found himself back in the store he had been in when the Shift first happened.
As he looked, he got a text from his wife.
The conversation went as follows:
Reading a report that says ppl tended to swap w crushes and such. You weren’t checking out the woman you swapped with that day, were you?
What? I told you I was just watching them argue.
It’s okay if you were! I totally get it now anyway! I’ve been checking out women right and left...not that you’re new body isn’t beautiful! It just is part of being a guy that I’m learning, I guess!
Stanley wasn’t quite sure how to respond. His mind swirled with a range of emotions from guilt to feeling unattractive to jealousy and so much more. Ultimately, he typed back a message asking about which type of tampons he should buy -- the selection was vast, and he was happy to change the subject!
