Julian had spent the last few hours trying to figure out this device. Lana had threatened to kill him if he didn’t figure it out. After all, the weird thing did swap their bodies, and it didn’t work when they tried to use it a second time.
He realized it was an idle threat; she certainly wouldn’t kill him as long as he was in her body. Plus, it’s not like any of this was his fault. The device was just sort of there; he wasn’t the one who touched it; he really couldn’t be held even the slightesy bit responsible. But he was the smart one. If anyone could figure it out, it would be him. And hence all the work and calculations, but none of was getting him any closer to actually making this thing work. It shouldn’t have been remotely possible for this thing to swap two people’s bodies, and yet here he was inside of Lana’s.
