The virus first starting infecting people around September. People would seemingly die and come back to life craving the flesh of other humans. Dr. Gustavo Diaz hated the term “zombie,” but that’s what everyone was calling the infected. Many had been working on a cure, but Gustavo was taking a different approach, he theorized a vaccine.
With an infected young woman on the table in his lab, he extracted her DNA and began the study it. She growled and snapped at him, but she was tied down tight. He was able to create a single dose of the vaccine, and he wondered who to test it on. However, his choices were quickly dwindled once he realized his lab was surrounded by infected people. There was only one person he could test it on: himself.
Nervously, he injected the needle in his arm. He began to wonder how he would know it would work? Then something strange happened as his body transformed. He looked eerily similar to the woman on his table -- well, like she did when she was alive. But being a woman was the last thing on his mind. Gustavo also had a craving for flesh, but he desired to eat the flesh of the infected. He couldn’t help himself as he bit into the woman at his table.
He was shocked at what he had done. He briefly thought he had turned himself into the same type of monster as the infected, but he still seemed to have his ability to speak and think. He had no cravings for the flesh of the living for sure. Then he looked out his lab window to see the infected desperate to get inside. He knew he was a different kind of monster entirely, and he was one that was ready to feast on the flesh of those zombies...

Stereotyped
When Katie told her boyfriend Martin that she didn’t want to get dressed up, he probably should’ve listened. He kept pressing the issue the entire month of October.
One day, he arrived at their apartment with a blunt statement. “I bought you a costume,” He said.
“But I kept telling you --”
"It's not even that much of a costume. It’s not scary or anything, but, come on, at least it’s something.”
He opened the box to show her and she rolled her eyes. “Really?” She asked, “Alicia Silverstone from Clueless? If you like this costume so much, why don’t you wear it?”
“Oh, come on, I’d never fit in it --” Martin was abruptly cut off by a pain throughout his body. It began to rearrange and transform into a female form. To top it all off, his outfit change into the very thing he was pressuring his girlfriend to wear.
“What the hell?” Martin asked confused.
“If you must know,” Katie smiled, “I hate Halloween because I’m a witch. The way we’re stereotyped on this day, it’s just terrible. I figured a fitting punishment for your pressuring would be to give you that form until the end of Halloween. At least, I think that’s when you’ll return to normal...”

Halloween Party
Kyle had been a little nervous about attending a Halloween party with a bunch of people he didn’t know, but his friend Greg talked him into it. It turned out to not be so bad, he began talking with a small group of people and didn’t even notice Greg leave. Kyle stayed late at the party with the group, well into the morning. They all got drunk and began to joke about their costumes. One woman, Victoria, was dressed as a witch, and someone asked her to cast a spell. She giggled, mumbling out what seemed like nonsense words. Through some odd coincidence those words turned out to be an actual spell! People souls shot out of their own bodies and into others. A man begged Kyle to undo what he just did. He was confused for a minute until he realized this was because he now had Victoria’s body. However, Victoria -- in a new body of her won -- was just as confused as anyone. She had no idea what random words she had spoken or that they would turn out to be an actual spell! Everyone eventually agreed just not to panic, go home to get some rest, and try to figure things out a little later. As Kyle walked home, he felt odd in Victoria’s body. He still didn’t believe she could do this! But until they could fix it, he was going to be her!

Life Saver
For Jacob, the Great Shift was truly terrifying. He was swapped into a woman’s body while she was swimming, and he quickly began to drown. He didn’t understand what was happening, why he was surrounded by water, or why he couldn’t breathe. Then he felt hands grab him and pull him out. Luckily, the lifeguard hadn’t been affected by the Shift. Jacob could only look up at the man who saved his life and the surroundings of the pool. He wondered how he had gotten here, and that’s when he began to notice his new body...

I Wish I Was Attractive
Kevin knew full well his wish was subject to interpretation. In fact, as soon as the words “I wish to be attractive” left his lips, he realized he should’ve worded it differently. He thought he’d have a chiseled jaw, washboard abs, and big muscles. However, as soon as he felt the changes come over him, he knew none of those would be true.
He rushed over to the nearest mirror to see how his wish had transformed him. He didn’t expect to be pleased with being a woman, but his own reflection did make him smile. He had to admit he was now, in fact, quite attractive -- even if it wasn’t in the way he had originally anticipated.

New Floor
The bright flash of The Great Shift hit Andrew like a ton of bricks as he fell to the dirty floor he had been trying to clean. When he awoke several moments he later, he held his throbbing head. His vision was also blurry. The first thing he noticed was the floor. It was clean, not like the filthy floors where he worked as a janitor. Maybe someone had brought him to the hospital after his collapse? But why would they leave him on the floor of a hospital?
The next thing that he noticed was the fact that he was no longer wearing his coveralls. But not just that, the clothes he was wearing were clearly not his. In fact, this quickly lead him to his next revelation, that his entire body wasn’t his own. He had to be half of the weight he previously was. He was a slender woman now, and he was at a gym! But why did he swap bodies with her? He assumed she must have a good life. The women at this gym never seemed to work. Maybe her husband was rich? Maybe he shouldn’t tell anyone the truth about who he really was? Maybe he should just live her life instead of his own pathetic one...

Wed
Reality seemed to glitch out for a second and Peter soon found himself alone in a room wearing a white dress. He clearly now had the body of a woman for some reason, and he could hear arguing in this distance. He waited for a while before venturing to explore. He began to realize he was in a wedding hall, and he apparently had the body of the bride. This became ever more apparent in the reception room where everyone had gathered. They were all wearing suits or fancy dresses, and they were all discussing their new bodies. Peter had to explain to everyone that he had swapped to, and he was not who he appeared to be (much to the groom’s disappointment, even though he was now in the body of the flower girl).

Crowded Place
In the aftermath of the Great Shift, crowded places often devolved into chaos as people tried to figure out who they now were. Riots happened, trash was littered, fights broke out, but it all eventually settled down. Ed, Martin, and Dave were three friends all attending such an event together. They were lucky enough to not end up harmed and to find each other once the rowdiness died down. None of them felt so lucky about being stuck in the bodies of women though. They all struggled to walk in heels as they navigated their way though the garbage thrown about. While Ed and Martin walked slowly, Dave had trouble even standing up. He considered taking off the shoes, but seeing shards of glass on the ground kept up his resolve to continue to wear them.

Get Home
Curtis sighed. It had been a very long twelve hours since the Great Shift dumped him on the other side of the country in a strange body. He supposed he was lucky to have ended up in a body at an airport; he was able to guarantee a seat on a flight back home as soon as the planes were back in the air. Quite surprisingly, it didn’t take long. However, the fact that he was in the body of a stewardess proved to be problematic once aboard. People kept asking him to help with their luggage or to find their seat.
“Look, I get what I look like; I understand what I’m wearing,” He would tell others on the plane, “But I was Shifted into a new body just like everyone else. This isn’t my body. This aren’t my clothes. I’m not here to wait on you. I just want to get home.”

Flex
Nick was absolutely sure he was going to break his neck if he kept this up, but the body he found himself in was so incredible and flexible that nothing really seemed impossible. He hadn’t questioned why he suddenly became a woman, but he was confused by the yoga pose he found himself in at the time the Great Shift swapped him into this body. Once untwisting himself, he began to try other ways to bend his body, and he was often unsure if bodies should even bend in some of the ways he was trying. Why did it all give him such a thrill? Was he actually liking being a chick?

Cope
A post-it note on the TV read “Play Me” as Jason nervously picked up the remote off the bed in order to follow the instructions. A video played with his own body appearing with a smile,
“I bet you have a lot of questions right now,” Jason watched his own body say in the video, “Like how we swapped bodies. Well, I’m not giving up that secret, but just know that I’m now you and you are now me, Brooke Jensen. No, this swap isn’t temporary; I plan on keeping your life. I was miserable in mine. I guess that’s your problem now. Next, I’ll list off some helpful information for you...”
Jason listened intently as Brooke spoke on the video. He couldn’t believe she stole his body, but he also knew he didn’t have a way back to his own. He was just going to have to cope. He had to figure out how he was going to live as a woman...

Over the next few months, Colin continued to live his body as Ako. He went to work as a nurse each day, doing the job without incident. Regularly, he checked up on his own body, which stayed in a coma. He couldn’t help but wonder if his body was stuck like that because he was stuck in Ako’s body. It’s not like he had a way out though. He just had to keep living life as her, no matter how weird or tough that was for him...

Colin was nervous and scared during the surgery, but he was surprised at how well it turned out. It was almost as if he was able to draw upon this body’s expertise and experience when stressed. He wondered if he could manage to duplicate that to find records about his own body. Sure enough, right after surgery, without even taking his mask off, he concentrated and began to dig through records. He found his own intake form, and it seemed his body (fortunately) wasn’t dead, but it was in a coma. Maybe he’d just return to it once he woke up? Or maybe he should pay his own body a visit in order to try to find a way to force his soul back inside.

“Ah, Nurse Ako, there you are,” A voice said from behind Colin. Colin sat up straight in attention, realizing the voice was talking to him. He saw a doctor standing there.
“I need your assistance with a surgery. Come with me,” The doctor said.
Colin was a little nervous. He had no idea what he was expected to do during a surgery. What if he screwed it up? He could be responsible for someone’s death. He thought about telling this doctor the truth about who he really was and what had happened to him, but as he ran through it in his mind, he realized how insane it sounded. He decided to try to wing this whole nurse thing as best he could. He stood up and followed the doctor to the emergency room...

Colin lifted himself up off the floor (luckily no one had seen him giggling on the ground), and into a chair. He slouched as he looked at all the medical documents in front of him. None of it seemed to be patient records, mostly just instructional stuff that people probably never checked.
His mind kept shifting between two main thoughts. The first was about locating his body. Even if it did die, he still wanted to know that. Of course, if it was alive, he wondered if the nurse was now in his body. This is when he started to focus on his second main thought -- the nurse’s body. It was hot, and honestly if he had seen her on the street, he probably would gawk at her. But now that he had his body, he imagined people checking him out. It made him uncomfortable. Well, that and the short skirt and heels. He was sure anyone was staring at him when they walked by...

Nursed (Part 1)
Colin remembered the car accident; he remembered being rushed to the hospital; he even remembered the doctors giving him gas while telling him to breathe easy. The gas made him giggle a little until he passed out. That was the last thing he remembered until he suddenly woke up again, continuing his giggles from where the left off.
He was still in the hospital, but why was he on the floor? As his laughter died down, he noticed that no longer had his own body. Somehow he had swapped bodies with one of the nurses! He was a woman! Did he die? Did he possess her? Or was it some sort of switch?
He wondered where his own body was. He knew he had been taken to the ER, but his body was probably recovering in a room somewhere. That is, unless he died, in which case it was probably in the morgue. But this body surely had the resources to find out, right?

Shy
Adam had always been a quiet kind of guy. He was socially awkward and had a hard time talking to women. He always fumbled the first date and never had a girlfriend. When the Great Shift struck and Adam found himself in a woman’s body, he was thrilled. He thought that with his new body, it would be like he didn’t even NEED a girlfriend! As soon as he could, he bought some clothes he wished women wore and went back to his place to put them on. He began to rub his hands up and down his leg. It felt good, but he was a little disappointed that he didn’t feel all that turned on. In fact, as he checked out his soft, feminine features, he realized they didn’t attract him the way they did back when he was a guy. His body was craving something different. It made sense; now that he had a female’s body he also had female hormones. However, his mind was still a guy’s, and approaching another guy to be intimate didn’t seem right to him either. If he was going to try that sort of thing, he’d be nervous. He’d fumble it; he couldn’t imagine ever having a boyfriend. Despite the Shift, he felt like he was back in the same situation he started in...

Off-Campus
It seemed like a typical morning in the off-campus house that the three junior college students, Allison, Natalie, and Julia, shared. When Allison began holding her head, Natalie and Julia didn’t notice at first; they just kept eating their breakfast. It wasn’t until she shouted “No” that the two other women turned their heads and asked what was wrong.
“Nothing,” Doug replied flatly now that he had successfully possessed Allison’s body, “I just realized I forgot to finish an assignment that was due today.”
“You could skip your morning classes,” Julia suggested, “Unless it’s for one of your morning classes.”
“Not a bad idea. I’ll be in my room...don’t disturb me,” Doug said with a devilish smile.

Hope
With the Earth near death, colonizing other worlds soon became the only viable option for the continuation of humanity. Each mission to a different planet offered only a small chance of success. Xavier was a member of a group of about a thousand to travel to Q-783, a planet several light years away. En route, an alien virus infected and killed most of the female crew. Xavier was one of the men chosen to undergo alteration of his DNA. They would transform him into a woman, he’d spend most of his life pregnant in order to ensure a sizable population with significant genetic diversity. Shortly after giving birth to his third child aboard the ship, they touched down on Q-783. Xavier disembarked the ship. He was hopeful for humanity’s future. The land seemed mostly barren, but he was hopeful the automated terra-forming droid they had sent out decades earlier had done its job and that plants had sprouted somewhere. It wouldn’t be easy, but at least they had hope.

Two Times?
Describing James as a scrawny nerd would be accurate; it’d even be how he’d describe himself. And when he arrived on Exchange Island for vacation, he couldn’t have been more delighted with the body he ended up in -- a bodybuilder type man with huge muscles, an Adonis type guy. He couldn’t believe he’d be spending the next two weeks like this! With his late in day arrival, he went to sleep with only the happiest dreams to come.
But an odd thing happened the next morning. Instead of waking up in his room, he awoke on the beach. Instead of having the body of the muscular man he swapped with the previous evening, he now had the body of a gorgeous woman. This didn’t make any sense. You didn’t swap multiple times on Exchange Island; it happened once on arrival (and back to normal on departure). Why did he swap again? James was worried. Something had to be wrong...

Dear Sucker
Larry was feeling pretty good about his plan. He had used the body swapper he had invented to steal a woman’s body, then sent a letter demanding a $10,000 ransom if she wanted it back with a meeting place and time. He figured the police would think she was crazy if she went to them; nobody thought body swapping was even possible. It was easy money to fund any other inventions he might imagine.
He arrived early and waited. But then the meeting time passed, then an hour or so passed. Larry couldn’t imagine the flaw in his plan. Then a kid came by and told him a man said to give him a note.
Larry read it:
Dear Sucker, I don’t know why you’d ever want to steal a woman’s body, but good luck being me. You have no idea the disadvantages you’ll face with your new gender. You think I’m going to pay you $10K to go back to who I was? Forget it. Have fun.
Larry sat and pondered. This was a setback, but he still had his device. He could swap with anyone who might be a little more eager to stay themselves.

After the Emergency
“So, I’m not dead?” A very confused Harriet asked the woman sitting in front of her.
“Luckily, no,” The woman replied, “In emergency situations, we can now download the contents of people’s brains into new bodies. It works seamlessly whenever there’s a body available. Unfortunately, it’s hard to be picky about the body one gets, and I’m sure it’s difficult for you going from female to male. I had a similar experience when I first entered this body a few years ago. But after that, I decided to put my skills as a psychologist to use helping people when they wake up.”
“What’s your name?” Harriet asked.
“Dr. Lee, but you can call me Grace if you’d like.”
“What was your name before though?”
Grace paused. “Anthony,” She replied, “You can call me that if it makes you more comfortable, but the first thing we should talk about is having you pick out a new name.”

The Cabin
In the summer of 1986, Mark had gone to the remote cabin with his girlfriend for a weekend in the woods. He never expected a spirit to possess his body, leaving his soul stuck in the wilderness as the ghost left with his girlfriend. Mark subconsciously knew the rules of becoming human again. He needed someone to stay overnight to possess their body, just as the ghost did to him. He waited for more than thirty years before a van pulled up. A group of college girls poured out. They got drunk in the cabin before passing out, Mark realized this might be his only chance for a long time. He didn’t like the idea of being a woman, but he woke up the next morning and looked at the other passed out girls still in there. He clearly picked the hottest body of the bunch, maybe this new life might not be so bad...

Grandpa
It was early on Christmas morning when the children of the Dretch household went downstairs and were surprised to see an unknown woman sitting next to their tree. The kids woke up their parents, and the family went down cautiously.
“It’s okay,” The woman said, “I know this is weird, but it’s me. It’s Grandpa. I certainly didn’t expect a Christmas wish I made five decades ago to finally come true, but I guess it did. Before I met your grandmother -- God rest her soul -- I was a very different man. I often dreamed and wondered what it would be like to be a woman. I made a wish back then. It never came true back then, and I certainly didn’t expect it to do so today. But here we are. And I may be a woman and somehow young again, but I’m still your Grandpa; it’s still Christmas. Let’s celebrate.”
The rest of the family didn’t even know what to say.

Back on the Job
Seymour tried to hold his head up high as he finished getting ready for his first day back at work after the Great Shift. He was sure all the guys at the office would be hitting on him. He had just the type of body that they all tried to pick up at happy hours. Heck, it was what he was doing with this woman when the Great Shift happened, and he ended up swapping into her body. He chuckled as he thought about all the things he tried that night after getting home. Of course, the laughter soon faded when he starting thinking about how some of his co-workers probably wanted to do those types of things TO him now. He knew he just needed to put on a strong attitude; no one was going to mess with him no matter what body he was in...

En Pointe
It all began as a joke when Adam found the ballet slippers with his girlfriend. They both laughed as he struggled to put them onto his feet, but they stopped laughing when the slippers laced themselves up and Adam couldn’t take them off. Then his body transformed into that of a dainty woman and his clothes morphed into a ballet outfit. And to top it all off, it seemed he could only walk on his tiptoes, just like a ballerina. He begged his girlfriend for help. She just asked, “Who are you?”
He tried to protest, telling her she just saw him transform right in front of her eyes. She just looked at him like he was crazy and ran off. She had been there! She had seen everything, but it was like this is how things always had been and she had no knowledge of what just happened!
Adam discovered he could change out of the ballerina outfit and into regular clothes, but the slippers were stuck firmly on his feet with no way off. To make matters worse, he couldn’t stand or walk in anyway but on his tiptoes. The only reprieve he got from the painful experience of always being en pointe was when he sat down. This was all like some sort of nightmare curse of these damned shoes.

Life Saving (Part 3)

After several months of psychological evaluation and physical therapy, Seth was allowed to walk around the grounds of the hospital. He often went to the parking garage wearing clothes his wife had given him. It was still all so strange -- to be someone else, and not only that, but to be someone so much different from who he had been, who he still considered himself to be.
Seth realized his steps were getting shaky. He looked down to orient himself. It was one of the side effects of the transplant. If he got too distracted, he could lose track of some pretty basic things. Walking was one of them. His feet just often didn’t hit the way he expected them too. Some of that blame he placed on the boots his wife had brought him -- though they were certainly better than the heels she was encouraging him to wear. His next steps were taken carefully as he looked down, back to his task at hand of walking around with this weird, foreign body.

Life Saving (Part 2)

In the following weeks Seth was confined to his hospital room. He could sit up, but standing was a whole different matter. The doctors told him his recovery was likely worse due to the fact that his brain had to be transplanted twice and due to any damages caused by his brain being rejected by the first body, though Seth was still expected to make a full recovery over time. All this meant hour after hour day after day of being stuck with this unfamiliar body and not much else to do but notice all the differences from his own. One day, he’d focus on the fact that he now had breasts. The next, it might be the long hair coming from his head. He’d imagine cutting it short the minute he left the hospital.
He asked the doctors about getting another transplant, about getting the type of body he was supposed to get, but they said it was out of the question. The risk was just too high for another rejection...and that was if his brain could even survive another transplant, which they thought unlikely. Seth sighed. He guess he was just going to have to get used to this...

Life Saving (Part 1)
With a chronic disease affecting his body, Seth agreed to the experimental procedure to have his brain transplanted into a new body. The donor was a perfect match, another guy just two years younger than Seth, just an inch taller, and with a similar build. He knew when the doctors put him under, he would wake up as someone else. However, he never expected to wake up inside the body of an young Asian woman! He demanded answers on how they could make such a mistake!
However, when a doctor arrived in the room with Seth’s wife, they explained there had been no mistake. Seth’s brain had been transplanted into the correct body, but that body began to immediately reject Seth’s brain. If the doctors didn’t act quickly, Seth would’ve died. They needed to locate a compatible donor fast, and they couldn’t be picky. The young Asian woman had arrived in the ER brain dead. They didn’t even know her name or if she had a family. They acted on impulse to save Seth’s life by putting his brain in her body.

Old Friends
“Adam? I can’t believe it! I haven’t seen you since the Great Shift first happened!” Luke exclaimed.
“Oh, my God! I know! We were both panicking our heads off when we found ourselves next to each other in women’s bodies.” Adam replied.
You have no idea how nice it was for the first person I encountered was stuck int he same sort of situation as me.”
“Those first few weeks, I thought I was going to die. I fought the idea of womanhood so hard until one day, I don’t know, it just sort of clicked. I embraced it, and now here I am doing yoga.”
“Wait, here? Now? No way! Me too! I need to take off the baby weight.”
“You had a baby? Talk about embracing your womanhood!”
“I know! I never expected it either! I probably fought it just as hard as you did. But, like you said, sometimes things click...”

However, while Tahani went to cultural centers like Los Angeles in search of Eleanor, Eleanor went to Arizona in search of Tahani. She was pretty sure Tahani would freak out when they saw each other; not because she’d be excited, but because Eleanor had stopped wearing Tahani’s high fashion dresses and gown, opting instead for some trashy sweats. Of course, as long as Eleanor was searching Arizona, she was still a long ways off.
