What Might've Been

It had been a few weeks since the Great Shift, and things had gone back to being relatively normal. Despite swapping into new bodies, people continued on with their lives. But for someone like Nathan, there was always the lingering thought of what could have been. On his way to work, he sat down on the train. He looked to his right to see a woman in a school uniform sleeping next to him. He hadn’t minded swapping into the body of a woman, but he couldn’t help but feel a hint of jealousy, thinking it would’ve been nicer to have swapped with a body a little bit younger than his own instead of one that was a little bit older. As his jealousy grew, a snore caught his attention. To his left, another woman slept. This was one was significantly older. Suddenly his jealousy faded.
