After several minutes of questions, the doctor proceeded to bring a needle to Jack’s arm.
“I’m just going to take some blood,” He said, “But I’ve got to be honest...”
The doctor paused, prompting Jack to ask, “Yes? What?”
The doctor sighed, “It’s unlikely that I’ll find anything. I’m not even sure exactly what I’m looking for. Even if I did, I’m not sure any of the equipment available to me in this clinic would allow me to find it. We’re operating on some pretty bare bones technology here. There’s even less of a chance of being able to help you with your condition.”
It was Jack’s turn to sigh, “I’m okay with being a woman. I just need to be able to claim my life. I need to be able to say I am who I say I am. Is there a chance you can medically help me prove that?”
