Beam me up

There was really no reason for Scotty to improve the Enterprise’s transporter, but he always loved trying to make a few tweaks. He had hoped his latest efforts would allow crew to beam up even when the shields were up, but it seemed a slight miscalculation caused his DNA to be scrambled with the person who had just used it, which was Ensign Amanda Choi. Miss Choi had joined the crew just a few short weeks ago, but the missions had been too much for her to handle, and they had visited an outpost to allow her and a few other crew members who could not cut it to leave. The transporter had given him a copy of her body. He restored to transporter to its default settings before trying to figure out a way back to being himself, which didn’t seem to be going so well!
